Crazy Competitive

I have known for awhile Miss E had a competitive streak. But this week-end I saw it in a big way. We attended our second cross country meet for the season. We decided that since Miss E smoked everyone in her age group at the first meet we would run her up a division. This meant that she was running with 9 and 10 year olds. This also meant that instead of running a 2K she had to run a 3K. It was a really small meet so when it came time for her to run there were only 3 kids including E.In the above picture you can see the racers at the starting line. Now despite the fact that these three children are running at the same same time they only compete against children of their own gender. Miss E thought that the person on her right was a young lady. She was wrong! The person on her right is in fact a young man with long hair. A young man, who is 2 years older than her and a foot taller than her. She was determined not to let this perceived girl beat her in the race. She dang near keeled over because of it. She didn't pace herself and ran like crazy to stay ahead of her "opponent". In the end she came in third overall. Which was first for her since she was in fact the only girl!!
Look at that cranky face crossing the finish line!

I had to include a photo of my other runner getting ready to cross the finish line. C-man on the other hand isn't very competitive and just paces himself. He was still smiling! He placed second.
